APC Leaders Dismiss NDC’s Southern Ticket as ‘Opposition Musical Chairs’; Yilwatda and Uzodimma Mock Peter Obi’s New ‘Mega Party’ Ahead of 2027

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially “de-risked” the threat posed by the newly formed Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), describing the opposition’s Saturday night zoning announcement as a “predictable shuffle” that will not alter the 2027 political landscape. Speaking shortly after the NDC’s national convention in Abuja, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma declared that the ruling party remains the only “digital-age” vehicle capable of delivering stability to Nigeria.

The NDC had earlier set the political “trenches” on fire by zoning its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, a move widely seen as clearing the path for a Peter Obi candidacy. However, Governor Uzodimma was quick to pour cold water on the excitement. “Politics is about structures, not just hashtags,” Uzodimma remarked. “What we are seeing is a group of seasonal migrants moving from one sinking ship to another. The APC is not threatened by a coalition built on sand; we are focused on the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda that is already fixing the economy.”

National Chairman Yilwatda echoed this sentiment, pointing to the APC’s superior “technical readiness.” He noted that while the NDC is busy with “zoning optics,” the APC has successfully digitized its membership database, ensuring that every ward in the federation is a fortress for the ruling party. “We have moved beyond the era of accidental politics,” Yilwatda stated. “Our internal democracy is stronger than ever, and our performance in infrastructure and security is the only ‘zoning’ that matters to the average Nigerian.”

The APC leadership’s dismissive tone highlights a growing confidence within the “Jagaban” machinery. Analysts suggest that by keeping the opposition fragmented with figures like Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso constantly shifting platforms the APC is effectively clearing its own path for the 2027 transition cycle.

As the NDC attempts to market itself as the “Third Force” that Nigeria has been waiting for, the APC’s message from Alausa and Abuja is clear: the ruling party isn’t just watching the game; they own the pitch. With Uzodimma and Yilwatda presenting a unified front, the APC is betting that their “Value-Addition” governance will outweigh the “early campaign theater” of the new opposition bloc.
