APC Chairman Reveals 10 Million Cash Transfer Beneficiaries Live Beyond the Reach of Social Media

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has drawn attention to Nigeria’s deep digital divide, disclosing that more than 10 million vulnerable citizens who benefited from the federal government’s ₦75,000 conditional cash transfer do not own mobile phones, watch television, or access social media platforms.

Yilwatda made the observation while addressing party stakeholders on the reception of government policies and the realities of grassroots governance. He pointed out that a significant demographic of citizens whose lives are directly impacted by federal intervention schemes exist completely outside the noisy sphere of urban digital discourse.

According to the APC chairman, this massive disconnect explains why online sentiment often fails to align with the actual reception of social safety net programs on the ground. He stressed that millions of rural dwellers who experience direct financial relief are unequipped to counter or join public debates online.

“Over 10 million beneficiaries of the conditional cash transfer are vulnerable people who do not have access to mobile phones, televisions, or social media platforms,” Yilwatda stated.

The disclosure highlights the structural challenges of public communication in the country, underscoring why political strategies geared toward the upcoming 2027 electoral cycle must prioritize direct, physical grassroots mobilization over internet-based campaigns.
