Angry Accord Stakeholders Set Up Crisis Panel to Block Gov Adeleke Over His Alleged Secret Loyalty to Tinubu

The political marriage between Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and his new political platform, the Accord Party, has run into dangerous waters following a fierce internal rebellion over party loyalty and national political alignments.

Trouble boiled over after a high-powered coalition of Accord Party elders and grassroots stakeholders—strictly loyal to the party’s 2027 presidential standard-bearer, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim—inaugurated an emergency seven-member committee to review their relationship with the governor. The move marks a dramatic escalation in an ongoing party feud triggered by the expiration of a strict seven-day ultimatum handed to Governor Adeleke.

The core of the dispute rests on Adeleke’s political positioning. After defecting to the Accord Party to secure his ticket for the upcoming August 2026 Osun governorship election, the governor has faced intense criticism for maintaining open political alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Outraged by what they view as a double standard, the Olawepo-Hashim faction demanded that Adeleke publicly endorse Accord’s presidential candidate and completely distance himself from the ruling party’s leadership in Abuja.

With the seven-day deadline lapsing without any public commitment or reassurance from the governor, the aggrieved stakeholders held a strategic assembly to launch their next phase of political countermeasures. The newly formed committee, chaired by veteran party leader Alhaja Sherifat Oke alongside Hon. Sunday Olayori as secretary, has been mandated to consult wide cross-sections of opinion leaders across Osun State before recommending whether the group should formally pull its voting machinery away from Adeleke’s re-election campaign.

“You cannot pick and choose loyalty in a political party,” declared a spokesperson for the stakeholder caucus during the committee’s inauguration. “Any candidate running on the Accord Party ticket for the 2026 governorship election must be fully committed to our party’s national vision for 2027. Governor Adeleke cannot fly our flag in Osun while using his influence to campaign for or align with the presidential candidate of another party. Since he refused to honor our ultimatum and clarify where he stands, we are taking structured steps to protect our party’s integrity, even if it means reviewing our support for his second term.”

Echoing similar concerns, the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) cautioned Governor Adeleke that playing a double game could backfire spectacularly at the polls. The movement’s leadership stressed that while Adeleke’s team claims his past support for Tinubu was made during his time in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), remaining silent after adopting Accord as his new political home is an insult to party faithful who worked tirelessly to build the platform.

The widening rift creates a severe strategic headache for the Adeleke campaign. As the countdown to the August 2026 Osun governorship election ticks away, the governor now faces a dual front: fending off aggressive challenges from rival political parties while battling an internal firestorm that threatens to split his own adopted party right down the middle.
