ADCPCC Criticizes Police Disruption of ‘Tinubu Must Go’ Rally in Kano

The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADCPCC) has spoken out against the police disruption of a rally called “Tinubu Must Go” held at The Avenue Event Center in Kano. This rally was organized by local youths and led by Barrister Abba Hikima.

According to the ADCPCC, police officers blocked the venue and intimidated participants. Despite this, the youths were determined to share their opinions. The council also raised concerns about the reported arrest of the event center’s owner for allowing the rally to take place.

The ADCPCC emphasized that the right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression is protected under Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution. They called on the Inspector-General of Police and the Kano State Police Command to release the event center owner if they are still in custody.

Furthermore, the council urged civil society organizations and human rights groups to keep an eye on the situation regarding democratic rights. They praised Barrister Abba Hikima and the participating youths for their commitment to expressing their views.
