ADC Campaign Criticizes Tinubu for Avoiding Nationwide Election Campaigns

ADC Campaign Criticizes Tinubu for Avoiding Nationwide Election Campaigns

The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has accused President Bola Tinubu of being afraid to meet with Nigerians. They believe his choice not to campaign in all 36 states for the 2027 election shows a lack of respect for the voters.

Kola Ologbondiyan, the ADC-PCC Director of Media and Publicity, made these comments while meeting with a group of young voters supporting Atiku Abubakar, the ADC’s presidential candidate. Ologbondiyan argued that a president seeking re-election should be willing to answer questions and explain his plans to the public.

He criticized Tinubu for relying on official duties as an excuse to avoid campaigning, pointing out that previous Nigerian presidents and American candidates have managed to campaign while fulfilling their official responsibilities. Ologbondiyan stated, “What President Tinubu has done is a clear act of contempt against the Nigerian people.”

Ologbondiyan also mentioned that public dissatisfaction over issues like hunger, poverty, and insecurity might be why Tinubu is hesitant to engage with voters. He urged young Nigerians to reject the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the upcoming election, saying that another term for them would only prolong the suffering of citizens.

He described Atiku Abubakar as ready and capable of leading Nigeria, promising that an ADC government would focus on economic recovery, security, and improving living standards. Ologbondiyan claimed that Atiku would bring back subsidies to lower fuel costs and help alleviate hunger in the country.

Additionally, the ADC-PCC stated that the recent launch of the APC Presidential Campaign Council has actually strengthened their political position, noting that the event did not receive any support from ADC members.
