Aiyedatiwa Rallies Ondo APC, Urges Unity Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has embarked on a campaign to unify the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, rallying the party’s leadership to embrace a collective vision. At a recent special meeting of the Ondo State Leaders Caucus, the governor delivered a firm and resolute message, stating, “This is our party,” and urged all factions to work together for the greater good of the APC.

The meeting, held at the Government House in Akure, was a strategic move to solidify the party’s structure and consolidate power following a period of internal disagreements. Aiyedatiwa, who was overwhelmingly elected in the November 2024 gubernatorial polls, emphasized the need for all groups to operate under a single, united leadership. He stressed that party supremacy is non-negotiable and essential for maintaining stability and achieving future electoral success.

The event, which saw the attendance of prominent party leaders, including Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami, two of his predecessors, as well as senators and members of the House of Representatives, showcased a broad base of support for the governor’s message. Attendees unanimously agreed to replicate the party’s national caucus structure at the state level to ensure continuous deliberation on the party’s future.

In a move that signals the party’s focus on national politics, the caucus also unanimously endorsed the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and officially launched a structure named ‘Ondo State for Tinubu 2027’. This body is aimed at mobilizing grassroots support across the state to ensure the President’s victory in the upcoming general elections.

The governor’s proactive approach to party politics is seen as a crucial step towards preventing future rifts and presenting a formidable, united front. By reaching out to the party’s leadership and grassroots, Aiyedatiwa is not only securing his base but also positioning Ondo State as a key player in the national political landscape. The message from the governor is clear: the time for internal squabbles is over, and the focus must now be on collective growth and victory.
