Coalition to Unseat Tinubu Will Fail, Sokoto Firmly Behind President – APC Chair
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida, has confidently declared that any political coalition formed to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections is destined to fail. Achida asserted that the people of Sokoto State are firmly behind President Tinubu and his administration.
Speaking in Sokoto on Monday, June 30, 2025, the State APC Chairman dismissed recent talks of a formidable opposition alliance, involving figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Party’s Peter Obi, as mere political posturing that lacks the capacity to challenge the President’s widespread support.
Achida highlighted President Tinubu’s commitment to delivering on his “Renewed Hope Agenda” and his ongoing efforts to stabilize the economy and address national challenges. He emphasized that the President’s actions are resonating positively with the populace, including in Sokoto State.
“The idea of a new coalition to unseat President Tinubu in 2027 is a pipe dream. The people of Sokoto State, like many Nigerians, have seen the dedication and vision of this administration, and they are solidly behind President Tinubu,” Achida stated. He added that the President is working tirelessly to put Nigeria on the path of sustainable growth and development, and such efforts will ultimately garner continued public trust and support.
He urged opposition figures and political opportunists to focus on contributing to national development rather than engaging in premature power struggles that could distract the government from its primary responsibilities. Achida’s remarks echo sentiments from other APC chieftains who have also cautioned against early politicking, advocating for all hands on deck to address the nation’s economic and security challenges.
The APC Chairman’s confidence comes amidst internal shifts within the APC and the broader political landscape, including recent changes in the party’s national leadership, but he maintained that the party remains united and resolute in its support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid.
