Iranian Missiles Kill Four Israelis Hours After Trump Declares Ceasefire

A major Iranian missile barrage struck southern Israel early Tuesday, killing at least four people and injuring several others in the city of Beersheba. The deadly strikes occurred mere hours after U.S. President Donald Trump had declared a “Complete and Total CEASEFIRE” between Iran and Israel, plunging the region into immediate confusion over the status of hostilities.

According to Israeli emergency services, Magen David Adom, three residential buildings in Beersheba sustained direct hits from the Iranian ballistic missiles. Rescue teams recovered four bodies from one of the damaged buildings, updating earlier reports of three fatalities. The intensity of the impacts was such that some individuals were injured even while inside their reinforced safe rooms.

The strikes unfolded around or just after 4:00 AM GMT (7:00 AM Israel time), the precise moment when, according to Trump’s social media announcement on Monday, Iran was unilaterally supposed to halt its military operations. Trump had touted a phased 24-hour ceasefire, with Israel set to follow suit 12 hours later, marking an “official end” to the “12-day war.”

However, even as Iranian state television reported a ceasefire had commenced, Israel warned its public of incoming missile barrages. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had previously stated there was “NO ‘agreement'” on a ceasefire but indicated that Tehran would cease its “response” if Israel halted its “illegal aggression” by the stipulated 4:00 AM Tehran time. This discrepancy highlighted the immediate challenge to the proclaimed truce.

The latest wave of attacks marks a significant escalation in the conflict, which began on June 13, 2025, with Israeli “preemptive” strikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites, followed by successive Iranian retaliatory actions. Israeli airspace was temporarily closed following the intense barrage, further underscoring the severity of the situation on the ground.
