Pastor Paul Adefarasin Reports to Police Over Viral ‘Gun’ Video, Stun Gun Recovered

Pastor Paul Adefarasin, the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, has voluntarily reported to the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja for questioning regarding a viral video that allegedly showed him holding a gun-like object during a roadside encounter. The incident, which sparked considerable public debate, led to calls for an investigation into the prominent cleric’s conduct.

The video, which circulated widely online, depicted Pastor Adefarasin, while driving an unregistered vehicle, appearing to hold a metallic object during a heated verbal exchange with another road user who was filming the incident. Many social media users quickly speculated that the object was a firearm.

Confirming Adefarasin’s presence, the Lagos State Police Command, through its spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the pastor turned himself in and was being interrogated by detectives who had commenced an investigation into the case. The Police emphasized that “No one is above the law!” and assured the public that the outcome of the investigation would be made public.

During the interrogation, the Lagos State Police Command recovered the object seen in the viral video. They clarified that the item was not a lethal weapon or a conventional firearm, but rather a stun gun – an anti-riot device that is classified as prohibited under Nigerian law. Following his interrogation, Pastor Adefarasin was granted bail as investigations into the matter continue.

Earlier, Pastor Adefarasin had addressed the controversy in a message to his congregation and on his social media platforms. He denied brandishing a firearm, describing the claims as a “misunderstanding” and asserting that the object was “certainly not a firearm” and was never pointed at anyone. He further explained that the incident was not an isolated attack but an “organized strategy” aimed at generating money through clickbait.
