Osimhen Rejects Staggering €40m Al-Hilal Offer, Eyes European Future Amid Transfer Saga
Nigerian international striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly turned down a monumental offer from Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal, valued at an astonishing €40 million (approximately N70 billion) per season in salary. This definitive rejection comes despite an agreement between Al-Hilal and Osimhen’s parent club, Napoli, on a €75 million transfer fee to activate his release clause.
The 26-year-old Super Eagles star has consistently indicated his strong preference to continue his burgeoning career in Europe, a stance that has now seen him reject multiple approaches from the big-spending Saudi club. Reports suggest that Al-Hilal had initially offered around €26-€30 million per season before upping their bid to €40 million annually in a determined effort to secure his signature ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, which commences on June 14.
Sources close to the player, including prominent transfer experts like Fabrizio Romano and Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba, confirmed the rejection, stating that Osimhen has given a “definitive no” to the Saudi proposal. Laba specifically mentioned that Osimhen had turned down a fifth offer from Al-Hilal, underlining his unwavering desire to remain in top-tier European football, regardless of the financial incentives.
Osimhen spent the recently concluded 2024/2025 season on loan at Turkish champions Galatasaray, where he enjoyed a phenomenal campaign, netting 37 goals and providing 8 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. This impressive form has reignited interest from several elite European clubs.
While Napoli had seemingly agreed to Al-Hilal’s €75 million valuation, the personal terms offered by the Saudi side proved insufficient to lure the prolific striker away from Europe. Napoli is keen to sell Osimhen this summer, as he is reportedly not part of new head coach Antonio Conte’s plans and his contract with the Italian club is set to enter its final year (expiring in June 2026).
Galatasaray is now expected to intensify their efforts to sign Osimhen on a permanent basis, though matching Napoli’s €75 million asking price could be a hurdle. Other top European clubs, including those in the Premier League, are also believed to be monitoring his situation closely.
Osimhen’s decision to prioritize sporting ambition over a massive financial windfall reinforces his commitment to competing at the highest level of European football. This rejection sets the stage for a compelling transfer saga as clubs vie for his signature in the coming weeks, with the focus now firmly back on his desire for a continued career in Europe.
