“Possible Exhumation: Police Consider Autopsy for Mohbad’s Body”

The Lagos State Police Command has announced its intention to potentially exhume the body of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, to conduct an autopsy in order to assist with the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Mohbad, aged 27, tragically passed away on a Tuesday, and since then, the cause of his death has been shrouded in controversy. During an Instagram live session with media personality Daddy Freeze, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the police would be launching an inquiry to ascertain the cause of Mohbad’s untimely demise.

Earlier, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, had issued a statement emphasizing the police’s commitment to conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of Mohbad’s death. Referring to ACP Adejobi’s statement, SP Hundeyin stated, “The Force PRO issued a statement this evening (Thursday) saying that an investigation will commence, and that’s what we’re going to do. If need be, the body will be exhumed. It’s not too late. The body can be exhumed, and an autopsy can be performed.”

SP Hundeyin also stressed the importance of people coming forward with any relevant information related to the case, urging them to report to the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State or the Force Criminal Investigation Department. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive investigation process aimed at ensuring justice.

The investigation stems from a document that surfaced, in which the late singer had reported a case of alleged threats to his life, malicious damage, assault, and oppression, among other charges. Mohbad had filed a petition with the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Alagbon, Lagos State, on June 27, 2023, detailing an incident involving a music promoter named Samson Balogun, also known as Sam Larry, and a group of individuals.

In his petition, Mohbad alleged that Sam Larry and 15 others, armed with dangerous weapons, had disrupted a video shoot he was part of, alongside another artist, Omoniyi Temidayo, known as Zlatan Ibile. The group threatened violence, damaged equipment worth over N5 million, and assaulted Mohbad before he managed to escape with injuries.

The petition included the following statement: “I of the above name and address, a law-abiding citizen and a Musician bring to your notice the assault and threat to my life by the above-mentioned persons… Total amount I paid for the shooting they have destroyed is Eight Million Naira (N8,000,000) which is non-refundable.”

Mohbad’s plea for intervention emphasized the gravity of the situation, urging authorities to protect his life and hold those responsible accountable. The investigation into his death and the circumstances leading up to it remains ongoing, with the possibility of exhuming his body for further examination if deemed necessary.
