Nigerian defender Leon Balogun makes the official Scottish Premiership Team of the Week after an impressive debut for Rangers

Nigerian defender Leon Balogun has been included in the official Scottish Premiership Team of the Week after his impressive debut for Rangers on Saturday, August 1, 2020.
Balogun played on the left side of the central defence for 90 minutes as Rangers got a 1-0 win away at Aberdeen on the first matchday of the 2020/2021 season.
It was a solid performance from the 32-year-old who also showed good composure on the ball as he played out from the back.

He showed courage when he hit the post while trying to block an effort from goal and needed treatment before he continued playing.
For his performance, he was the only Rangers player who was included in the official Team of the Week by the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL).
A very impressive start from the summer signing saw him dominate opposing attackers in Rangers’ 1-0 victory over Aberdeen as the two clubs got the Scottish Premiership season underway,” the SPFL wrote in their review of the defender’s performance.
He was pleased with his performance too taking to social media to say; “happy to have made my full competitive debut and start the season with 3 points & a clean sheet!
Balogun just joined Steven Gerard’s Rangers after a stint in England with Premier League side Brighton and Wigan in the Championship.
