Malami’s Aide Criticizes Demolition of ADC Support Group’s Office in Kebbi

A media aide to former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami has spoken out against the demolition of the Malami Pressure Group’s headquarters in Birnin Kebbi. Mohammed Bello Doka described the demolition as an attack on democratic freedoms and the right to political association.

Doka alleged that a government agency from Kebbi State carried out the demolition on October 30, 2026, just before the office was set to open. He noted that the property belonged to Malami, who had given it to the group to support their activities for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

According to Doka, the demolition happened without any warning or formal notice. He called this unacceptable in a constitutional democracy, raising concerns about citizens’ rights to own property and participate in political activities. He questioned which agency was responsible for the demolition and whether it followed legal procedures.

Doka pointed out that the timing of the demolition, close to the elections, raises worries about the political climate for opposition parties. He emphasized that democracy relies on political competition and the freedom to organize without fear of interference.

He also highlighted serious issues facing Kebbi, such as high poverty rates, malnutrition, and food insecurity. Doka cited statistics showing that a large percentage of children in the state are suffering from poverty and malnutrition, calling for urgent government action to address these problems.

While Doka clarified that he was not blaming the demolition for these issues, he argued that it reflects broader concerns about governance and accountability. He urged the Kebbi State Government to clarify the legal basis for the demolition and to ensure that citizens’ rights are protected.
