African Democratic Congress Appeals Court Ruling and Requests INEC Action Suspension
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appealed a recent court ruling in favor of Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe. The party is asking the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to hold off on any actions related to this ruling until their appeal is resolved.
This request was made in a letter dated November 6, 2026, addressed to the INEC Chairman. The letter was signed by the ADC’s lawyer, Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa, and was received by INEC on the same day.
The letter, titled “Notice of Pendency of Notice of Appeal and Application for Stay of Execution of the Judgment of Federal High Court,” states that the ADC is unhappy with the court’s decision made on November 5. They have filed an appeal with the Court of Appeal to challenge this ruling.
Along with the appeal, the ADC has also submitted a Motion on Notice to the Federal High Court, asking for a stay of execution of the judgment until the appeal is heard. This motion was also dated November 6.
The case, identified as FHC/ABJ/CS/1619/2025, involves Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe against the ADC and others, with the ADC as the first defendant. The ADC has informed INEC that Bala Gombe is aware of both the appeal and the request to delay the court’s ruling.
