Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo Embraces New Nickname from Residents

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, recently shared that residents have affectionately renamed him from “Akpako Rescue” to “Okpe’s baby.” He expressed his happiness about this change during a live broadcast on ITV and Radio.

While walking along Sapele Road, Okpebholo noted that he now enjoys a warm reception from the public. He said, “These things give me joy because I walk freely on the street; instead of throwing pure water at me, they are giving me sweet names.”

In the same broadcast, he voiced his confidence in President Bola Tinubu, crediting him for economic reforms that he believes are starting to show positive results. He mentioned that these changes are affecting the prices of goods and the foreign exchange market.

Okpebholo encouraged business owners and the public to notice the improvements in the economy since Tinubu took office. He pointed out that the exchange rate has been more stable and that the naira is gaining strength against the dollar.

He also defended the removal of the petrol subsidy, stating that it was necessary to ensure fair distribution of the country’s resources. He remarked that the previous system allowed only a few individuals to benefit disproportionately.
