Kaduna Government Rejects Claims of N2.3 Trillion Campaign Spending as False
The Kaduna State Government has dismissed a viral letter that falsely claims Governor Uba Sani approved N2.3 trillion for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign. Officials labeled the letter as fraudulent and said it was an attempt to harm the governor’s reputation.
In a statement on Saturday, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, stated that the letter, dated October 18, 2026, was filled with inconsistencies that raised doubts about its authenticity. The letter was supposedly addressed to Senator Abdulazeez Yari, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
Maiyaki pointed out that the claimed amount of N2.3 trillion was more than double the entire budget of Kaduna State for 2026, which is about N985.92 billion. He emphasized that no official records support such a large expenditure, making the claim financially impossible.
The commissioner also noted errors in the letter, such as a misspelling of the governor’s name and an unauthorized signature. He stated, “Gov. Uba Sani neither authored nor authorized the purported letter, and no N2.3 trillion was budgeted, approved or released.”
Since taking office in May 2023, Governor Sani has focused on responsible financial management and transparency. The administration has prioritized investments in security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and social welfare.
Maiyaki expressed concern over what he called a coordinated effort to spread misinformation about the governor and his administration, especially with the 2027 general elections approaching. He warned that creating and sharing false official documents could lead to criminal charges.
He urged critics to provide credible evidence when questioning government spending and called on security agencies to investigate the origins of the false letter. The government remains committed to good governance and will not be distracted by misinformation.
