Wike Promises FCT Support for Tinubu in 2027 Election
ABUJA: Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has pledged that residents will support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. He stated that the mistakes made in the 2023 elections will not be repeated.
Wike spoke during a meeting of the Rainbow Coalition, which includes members from various political parties like the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He asked the audience if they would make the same mistake again, to which they responded with a resounding no.
He warned the public against “political gamblers” and emphasized the importance of ongoing projects in the area as reasons to continue supporting Tinubu’s administration. Wike questioned whether residents felt the presence of the current senator for the FCT, Ireti Kingibe, and suggested that they should consider other candidates like Senator Philip Aduda and John Gbadaya.
Wike also mentioned a recent political shift, where Julius Adamu, a PDP candidate, stepped aside for the Bwari Area Council Chairman, Joshua. He indicated he would recommend Adamu for a position in the FCT Universal Basic Education Commission.
Tanko Yamawo, the FCT APC Chairman, reflected on the past divisions between parties, noting that a former PDP chairman once declined a ride in his car due to party differences. Meanwhile, Ismaila Dogara, the FCT PDP Chairman, expressed confidence that the coalition is strong and committed to working for Tinubu.
