Tragic Aegean Sea Crossing Claims Lives of 12 Migrants

On Monday, twelve migrants lost their lives while trying to cross the Aegean Sea, according to authorities. This tragic event included six people who died after their boat collided with a police vessel near the island of Lesbos.

The coast guard reported that among those who died in the Lesbos incident were a baby and four women. The other six victims, which included five men and one woman, were on a small boat that capsized near the island of Samos. Fourteen people from this boat were rescued, including a suspected organizer from Iran.

In the collision off Lesbos, a speedboat carrying migrants struck the side of a police patrol vessel. Eight individuals were saved from this incident.

The Aegean Sea is a common route for migrants traveling from Turkey to Europe, and unfortunately, there have been many fatalities in this area.

In a separate incident in September, one person died and 25 others went missing after a boat filled with migrants sank near the island of Gavdos, close to Crete.
