Lagos APC Warns Peter Obi About 2027 Election Challenges

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a warning to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), about the upcoming 2027 general elections. They believe that if Obi does not show consistent political beliefs and strong organizational skills, he risks losing his influence.

APC spokesman Seye Oladejo shared these views in a statement on Monday. He noted that Obi’s campaign in 2023 captured public frustration and excitement, especially among young people. However, he emphasized that simply riding on public sentiment is not enough for long-term political success.

Oladejo pointed out that political momentum can fade if not supported by solid policies and a well-structured organization. He remarked, “Obi seems to think that the success of 2023 guarantees him a permanent place in politics.”

He criticized Obi for not turning the enthusiasm from his 2023 campaign into lasting political strength, arguing that social media presence and rallies cannot replace effective grassroots organization. Oladejo also highlighted that each election is unique, and the factors that helped Obi in 2023 may not be present in 2027.

Additionally, Oladejo questioned Obi’s frequent changes in political parties, suggesting it raises doubts about his commitment to core principles. He stated that while changing parties can be acceptable, it should not appear that they are merely tools for personal ambition.

He also challenged Obi’s policy consistency, saying that a presidential candidate needs to clearly explain how they would tackle issues like inflation, jobs, and energy challenges. Oladejo criticized Obi’s use of the phrase “go and verify,” stating that it sometimes leads to scrutiny that questions the accuracy of his claims.

Finally, Oladejo urged the Obidient movement to shift from being a protest group to a well-organized political force. He concluded that the 2027 election will depend on who can prove their competence and vision, not just who can recreate the emotions of the past.
