Gunmen Storm Mangu Village at Midnight, Killing Over 20 and Injuring Many

Tragedy struck the Binper community in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State after heavily armed gunmen launched a midnight raid on unsuspecting villagers, killing more than 20 people and leaving several others critically injured.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers invaded the peaceful farming village in the middle of the night, moving systematically from house to house. The gunmen forced their way into homes and attacked sleeping residents, creating panic as families attempted to flee in the dark.

By morning, local search teams confirmed that over 20 bodies had been recovered, while numerous victims with serious injuries were rushed to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment. Community members noted that several residents remain missing as search efforts continue across adjacent farmlands.

Community leaders and residents expressed deep anguish over the assault, appealing directly to the state police command and security forces to deploy personnel to the area immediately. They urged law enforcement agencies to hunt down the perpetrators, restore order, and put an end to recurring violence in the region.
