NAHCON Alerts Pilgrims Over Scammers Demanding Extra Cash for “Special” Hajj Slots

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has issued a stern warning to intending pilgrims and tour operators across the country to watch out for fraudsters offering fake “special” Hajj slots in exchange for cash.

The alert comes after intelligence reports exposed scammers masquerading as NAHCON officials and agents. These impostors have been approaching unsuspecting citizens and tour operators, claiming they can guarantee or fast-track 2027 Hajj seat allocations if given extra administrative fees and cash bribes.

Setting the record straight in an official circular, NAHCON emphasized that it has not authorized any individual, agent, or intermediary to collect extra charges or sell “special” seat packages. The commission made it clear that slot allocations are conducted purely through transparent, pre-established regulatory procedures and official licensing rules.

To avoid falling victim to extortion, NAHCON advised members of the public to process payments strictly through verified channels—specifically State Pilgrims Welfare Agencies, designated Hajj Savings Banks, and duly licensed tour operators. Stakeholders were also reminded that no unauthorized agent can save a slot if official timelines are missed, stressing that all pilgrim data must be uploaded by September 26, 2026, and full payments completed by December 2, 2026, to prevent automatic seat cancellation.
