Oby Ezekwesili Backs Peter Obi Again, Says Nigeria Needs Leaders With Real Competence

Former Minister of Education and renowned economic policy expert, Dr. Obiageli “Oby” Ezekwesili, has reaffirmed her support for Peter Obi, declaring that her backing remains firmly rooted in character, competence, and commitment to good governance.

Speaking on the imperative for political reform in Nigeria, the former World Bank Vice President pushed back against criticism from political opponents, maintaining that her public stance is guided strictly by principle rather than partisan affiliation or monetary inducement.

Ezekwesili emphasized that Nigeria’s economic and political challenges stem from a broken political class that prioritizes personal enrichment over national development. Addressing detractors who attempt to smear reform advocates, the former minister declared that her track record of integrity and public accountability speaks for itself, adding that no amount of political pressure or false narrative can shake her conviction regarding the leadership Nigeria urgently needs.

She called on citizens, particularly the youth and civil society organizations, to remain actively involved in demanding structural governance reforms, proper accountability from elected officials, and protection for electoral integrity.
