ICPC Exposes Two More Bogus Agencies Created by Adeyemi in Massive Govt Identity Theft

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has uncovered two more fake government agencies allegedly set up by Adeniyi Adeyemi, the man who paraded himself as the Director-General of the fictitious Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Presenting an interim investigation report to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, ICPC Chairman Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu revealed that Adeyemi operated an elaborate network of fraudulent entities without any legal backing or official appointment.

The two additional dummy agencies uncovered during the 30-day investigation are the FCT Investment Promotion Agency and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency and Public Private Partnership.

According to the anti-graft commission, Adeyemi created the fake organizations using forged legislative documents, appointment letters, and official government gazettes to open and run bank accounts under their names. Investigators also established that he broke the locks of an office previously used by the defunct Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) and unlawfully converted the building into his operational headquarters.

Clearing up financial concerns, the ICPC boss clarified that thorough financial tracing showed no Federal Government funds were approved or released to the fake council or its operators during its existence.

However, the commission noted that verification lapses and weak inter-agency oversight across several public institutions allowed the fraudster to operate undetected for months. Consequently, the ICPC recommended the immediate criminal prosecution of Adeyemi for forgery and impersonation, alongside strict administrative sanctions for public officers whose negligence enabled the fake agency’s activities.

Dr. Aliyu stated that the ICPC is continuing its investigation into Adeyemi and his network of collaborators to uncover further evidence and prepare criminal charges that can withstand trial in court.
