US Lawmaker Kimberly Daniels Urges Tinubu to Fire Defence Minister Over ‘Red Flags’; Cites Alleged Bandit Links and Easter Bloodshed in Damning Security Report

The Federal Government’s “Renewed Hope” for security has been hit by a “Tsunami” of international criticism as a U.S. lawmaker called for the immediate purging of the defense ministry. Florida Representative Kimberly Daniels released a stinging security assessment, urging President Tinubu to “look inward” and remove elements that compromise national stability.

The “Solution” to Nigeria’s escalating violence, she argues, starts with the redeployment or total removal of Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle. The “Drill or Drop” ultimatum comes in the wake of brutal attacks during the 2026 Easter services, which Daniels claims have exposed a massive disconnect between government rhetoric and the reality on the ground. According to her report, survivors and local leaders in the “digital trenches” of the North-Central region are losing faith in a leadership that is allegedly “protecting the attackers” from within.

“When the people you trust to protect you work undercover with others who want to harm you, it must be devastating!” Daniels stated.Matawalle, who has been “tinkering” with the nation’s anti-banditry strategy since his appointment, is now facing renewed scrutiny over his time as Zamfara Governor. The U.S. report specifically mentions “red flags” regarding his alleged relationships with bandit leaders claims Matawalle has repeatedly denied as politically motivated.

However, Daniels insists that for the integrity of the Ministry of Defence to be restored, a leadership review is no longer optional; it is a “national emergency.”As the 2027 political cycle begins to influence policy, the Presidency is now caught between defending its cabinet and managing a diplomatic “Tsunami” from Washington.

While Matawalle has previously called for more funding and less “politicization” of security, Representative Daniels is demanding that the U.S. government increase diplomatic pressure on Aso Rock. For the average Nigerian living in fear, the message from across the Atlantic is clear: true security cannot be achieved until the “familiar enemies” within the halls of power are dealt with.
