Osun Finally Releases First Batch of New Teachers; Appointment Letters Ready for Pickup This Monday

In a move that has brought tears of joy and a massive sigh of relief to thousands of job seekers, the Osun State Government on Friday, March 6, 2026, officially released the names of the first batch of successful candidates for its massive teacher recruitment drive. The announcement effectively ends a two-year period of uncertainty for the 5,000 applicants who have been waiting since the recruitment process began in 2024.

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, the list includes qualified teachers for both primary and secondary schools. Successful candidates don’t have to wait much longer to start their new careers; the government has confirmed that the distribution of official appointment letters will commence on Monday, March 9, at the various education boards in Osogbo.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, who has faced pressure from labor unions and youth groups over the delay, described the release as a milestone in his administration’s “Imole” (Light) education reform. “We didn’t want to just hire people; we wanted to ensure we had the budget and the right infrastructure to support them,” the Governor noted in a congratulatory message. “To the successful applicants: your journey to help rebuild our schools starts now.”

For those who didn’t see their names in this first batch, the Ministry of Education has urged patience, noting that the recruitment is being handled in phases to avoid “overloading the system” and to ensure that teachers are posted to the specific rural and urban areas where they are needed most. Applicants are encouraged to check their status immediately on the state’s recruitment portal or visit the SUBEB and TESCOM offices to see the physical lists.
