Oyo Police Confirm Abduction of JCI Ibadan Elite President Ibukun Otesile by Gunmen at Her Akobo Residence

The Oyo State Police Command has officially confirmed the abduction of a prominent Ibadan personality, Mrs. Ibukun Otesile, the 2025 President of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ibadan Elite. Otesile, who is also the daughter of Reverend Dr. Olalekan Babatunde, the founder of Jesus Is King Ministries, was forcefully taken by gunmen in front of her residence on Thursday night, December 4, 2025.

The incident, which occurred around 8:00 p.m. in the General Gas area of Akobo, Ibadan, has sent shockwaves through the professional and religious communities in the state capital. The abduction was confirmed today, Saturday, December 6, 2025, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent Adewale Osifeso, who stated briefly that “Investigation is ongoing, Sir,” but offered no further details on the identity of the perpetrators or whether contact had been established with the family.

The news of the abduction was first circulated by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Oyo State chapter, which received a distress alert shortly after the incident. Olamide Olanrewaju, a spokesperson for the association, confirmed the community’s worry and appeal for swift security action. Mrs. Otesile, a mother of two, was reportedly seized right at her gate. The security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army, have been urged by the association to deploy all necessary resources to secure her immediate and safe release, amidst growing concerns over the resurgence of kidnapping for ransom in the state.
