Katsina Police Foil Bandit Roadblock Attack in Batsari LGA, Recover Two AK-47 Rifles and Ammunition

The Katsina State Police Command today, Saturday, November 29, 2025, announced a significant operational success after its operatives foiled an attempted bandit attack and road blockage along the Kandawa-Dankar corridor in the Batsari Local Government Area of the state.

The incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. when the police received a distress call concerning armed suspects attempting to cordon off the highway, a common tactic used by bandits to ambush and abduct commuters. In a statement released by the command’s Spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, police operatives from the Batsari Division were swiftly mobilised to the scene in compliance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police to enhance security across the state.

Upon encountering the armed hoodlums, a brief but fierce gun duel commenced. The superior firepower and tactical maneuvers of the police operatives forced the bandits to abandon their mission and flee into the surrounding bush, reportedly with various degrees of bullet wounds. Following the dislodgement of the attackers, a thorough search of the scene was conducted.

DSP Sadiq confirmed the recovery of two potent AK-47 rifles, along with 24 rounds of live ammunition, and one Boxer motorcycle which the bandits used in their operation. The Commissioner of Police, while appreciating the operatives for their professionalism and act of valour, reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents and urged members of the public to maintain vigilance and continue to provide timely and credible information to aid prompt and decisive action against all criminal elements.
