FCT Minister Wike Arrives in Dubai to Lead High-Level Panel on Urban Development at Global Asia Pacific Cities Summit

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, early Monday, October 27, 2025, to attend the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit (2025APCS) and Mayors’ Forum. The global event, hosted by Expo City Dubai, is running from October 27 to 29, 2025.

Wike, who departed Abuja on Sunday, was received by Nigeria’s Consul General in Dubai, Ambassador Zayyanu Ibrahim, alongside a delegation of Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) officials.

According to a statement from the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike is slated to play a key role in the summit. On Tuesday, he will lead a discussion panel where he is expected to engage with mayors and city leaders from around the world. The session will focus on highlighting Abuja’s developmental strides and exchanging insights on strategies for sustainable urban growth.

The 2025APCS, which operates under the theme “Collaborate. Inspire. Transform,” is renowned as one of the world’s largest gatherings of mayors, city executives, and business leaders. It serves as a crucial platform to promote collaboration and foster trade and investment opportunities across the Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, and South Asia regions. The FCT Minister’s participation is viewed as an opportunity to court global investment and partnership for the capital city’s ongoing infrastructure and development projects.
