Tinubu Congratulates Ramaphosa on Second Term as South African President

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on his re-election. Tinubu also praised South Africans for the peaceful and successful conduct of their general election.

This message was delivered through a statement by his Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Saturday.

The statement read: “President Bola Tinubu extends his warm congratulations to His Excellency, President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, on his re-election. The President also congratulates the people of South Africa on the peaceful and successful conduct of the general election.”

Additionally, Tinubu emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties between Nigeria and South Africa. The statement continued: “While wishing President Ramaphosa a successful term in office, President Tinubu calls for the strengthening of bilateral ties between Nigeria and South Africa as strategic partners in Africa for the overall advancement of the continent.”

Earlier, South Africa’s parliament re-elected Ramaphosa as the country’s president following a landmark coalition deal between the governing African National Congress and opposition parties. In his victory speech, Ramaphosa applauded the new coalition, highlighting the expectation for leaders to “act and to work together for the good of everyone in our country.”
