TETFund Drops ₦6.4 Billion for 271 Schools; Top Universities and Polys Set for Massive Face-Lift in 2026!

Higher education in Nigeria is about to get a major financial boost as the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has released its “big budget” for 2026. A total of ₦6.452 billion has been set aside to be shared among 271 lucky tertiary institutions across the country.

From the biggest Federal Universities to the smaller State Colleges of Education, schools are already preparing their shopping lists. The money isn’t just for show; TETFund has made it clear that the focus this year is on fixing broken laboratories, building new lecture halls, and making sure professors get the training they need to stay world-class.

“We want our students to learn in environments that look like the 21st century,” a top official from TETFund stated. He warned, however, that the government is watching. Any Vice-Chancellor or Rector who thinks they can “pocket” this money without showing real buildings or research papers will find themselves in hot water.

For students, this news is a ray of hope. With many campuses struggling with overcrowded classrooms and outdated equipment, this 6-billion-naira injection could mean the difference between learning under a tree and studying in a modern facility.

The funds are expected to start hitting the bank accounts of the various institutions immediately, provided they have cleared their old records with the fund.
