“President Tinubu to Inaugurate African Counter-Terrorism Summit in Abuja”

President Bola Tinubu will kick off the African Counter-Terrorism Summit in Abuja on Monday, April 22.

Supported by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), Nigeria is hosting a high-level summit themed “Strengthening Regional Cooperation and Institution Building to Address the Evolving Threat of Terrorism” from April 22 to April 23.

The summit aims to bolster multilateral cooperation and redefine the international community’s collective response to terrorism in Africa, prioritizing African-led and African-owned solutions.

The summit offers a platform to assess the scope and intensity of the terrorism threat across the continent and to develop concrete strategic priorities and measures. It will encourage deeper regional collaboration, boost institutional capacity among member states, and facilitate the sharing of best practices and knowledge to combat terrorism.

The event will attract heads of state, high-ranking government officials from across Africa, representatives from international organizations and multilateral institutions, diplomatic corps members, and civil society groups.

United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed will attend, and concluding remarks will be delivered by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and UNOCT Under-Secretary-General Vladimir Voronkov.
