Police Announce Movement Restrictions in Kaduna for Saturday’s By-elections
The Kaduna State Police Command has announced a restriction of movement in four local government areas to ensure the peaceful and successful conduct of the by-elections scheduled for Saturday.
The command’s spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mansir Hassan, issued a statement on Friday in Kaduna, stating that the measure is part of the robust security arrangements put in place for the polls.
According to the statement, the movement restriction will commence from midnight on Friday, affecting residents of Sabon Gari, Zaria, Chikun, and Kajuru Local Government Areas until the conclusion of the elections on Saturday. The police have strongly advised the public to comply with the directive, noting that only personnel on essential duties and those with valid election duties will be exempted.
“The command urges the residents to conduct themselves peacefully and cooperate with the security agencies to ensure hitch-free elections,” Hassan said.
The restriction is a proactive step to prevent any security breaches and create a conducive environment for voters and electoral officials. The command has reiterated its commitment to providing adequate security coverage for the entire electoral process, from the movement of sensitive materials to the announcement of results.
