PDP National Secretary Anyanwu Petitions DSS, Police, INEC Over ‘Forged’ Convention Notice

The internal strife rocking the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dramatically intensified after the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, lodged a formal complaint with the nation’s key security and electoral agencies, alleging forgery against the party leadership.

In a move that further exposes the deep fractures within the party, Senator Anyanwu has petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS), the Inspector General of Police (IGP), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the alleged criminal forgery and cloning of his signature on a crucial document.

The petition, dated October 15, 2025, specifically targets a convention notice—an official letter submitted to INEC concerning the PDP’s forthcoming National Convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025.

According to the petition, Anyanwu vehemently denied authorizing, signing, or having any prior knowledge of the letter, which purportedly bore his signature alongside that of the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum.

“Regrettably, the quoted letter was never signed, authorised, or known to me. It is shocking to have a forged or cloned version of my signature on the letter,” the National Secretary stated in his communication to the agencies.

Anyanwu has called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the matter, urging the security agencies to identify and prosecute the PDP officials and their alleged “collaborators within INEC” responsible for the criminal act. This latest development adds a significant layer of complexity to the party’s already chaotic preparations for its National Convention, further polarizing the two major power blocs battling for control of the party’s structure.
