“Anambra State Police Recover Bodies from Recent Boat Accident as Nollywood Mourns Another Loss

The Anambra State Police Command has retrieved the remaining three bodies of victims from the recent tragic boat accident along the River Niger coastline. SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesman, underscored the importance of safety awareness among water travelers. The recovered bodies have been placed in a hospital mortuary in Asaba, Delta State, with the Commissioner of Police pledging a swift investigation.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian film industry is in mourning once more following the passing of Nollywood actress Adejumoke Aderounmu, known as Esther in Funke Akindele’s popular TV series ‘Jenifa’s Diary’.

The year 2024 has witnessed a series of losses in the industry. The boat accident adds to the sorrow, following the recent deaths of notable figures like veteran Yoruba actor Deji Aderemi, aka Olofa Ina; esteemed actress Ethel Ekpe; and Yoruba Nollywood actor Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji, known as Sisi Quadri. Mr Ibu, John Okafor, passed away just a day after Sisi Quadri. Adding to the grief, veteran actor Amaechi Muonagor lost his battle with kidney disease.”
