NNPP Leadership Disavows Kwankwaso’s Remarks, Issues Apology to President Tinubu and APC

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) leadership has publicly distanced itself from recent critical statements made by its former presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement released on Sunday, May 18, 2025, the party’s National Secretary, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, emphasized that Kwankwaso’s remarks do not reflect the party’s position and extended an unreserved apology to President Tinubu and the APC leadership.

Olaposi clarified that Kwankwaso, along with his associates, had been expelled from the NNPP and should no longer be associated with the party. He stated, “Kwankwaso should stop parading himself as a member or National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).” The party reaffirmed that the leadership under Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, who founded and registered the NNPP in 2002, remains the legitimate authority.

The NNPP’s statement also referenced legal judgments from the Abia State High Court and the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, which ratified the expulsion of Kwankwaso and his group from the party. Olaposi urged the public and media to cease referring to Kwankwaso as the leader of the NNPP, noting that he now leads only the Kwankwasia movement.

This development underscores the ongoing internal conflicts within the NNPP and highlights the party’s efforts to maintain its identity and principles amidst political turbulence.
