Ndume Says Tinubu “Drives in Tinted Glasses” and Isn’t Fully Aware of National Hardship

Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s grasp on the realities of everyday Nigerians, likening the President’s detachment to driving vehicles with heavily tinted windows that obscure real conditions on the ground.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Ndume expressed concern that Tinubu is being misled by aides and physically shielded from the public:

“Even outside the Villa they’d drive him in a tinted glass that he does not even see what’s going on. It is people like us that represent the public that you’ll listen to… Things are bad, very bad in the country.”

Ndume acknowledged that the President has admitted to the ongoing hardships and appealed for patience from Nigerians. However, he warned that patience has waned:

“The question is, for how long will we continue to be patient… Things are very difficult and so many things have not been done the way the people are expecting.”

He also criticized Tinubu’s inner circle, urging them to stop shielding the President from harsh realities:

“My position… is that they are deceiving him, damaging his image and doing more harm than good because the President cannot go out on the streets… and know how the people feel.”

Ndume emphasized that as a senator, he relies on grassroots feedback to inform his views and called for urgent action to address the deteriorating economic conditions.

As public discontent grows, Senator Ndume’s message foregrounds a significant concern: without direct exposure and responsive policy action, the leadership risks losing the trust of Nigerians enduring economic hardship.
