MTN Empowers 5,000 Students at FUTA with Laptops and Other Digital Tools
MTN Nigeria has made a significant impact on the lives of over 5,000 students at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), with a multi-million naira empowerment and entertainment program. The initiative, known as the MTN Pulse Campus Invasion, saw the company give out an array of valuable items, including free laptops, phones, power banks, and other network facilities. In a highlight of the event, a lucky student drove away with a Changai RCV 3 brand new car after winning a raffle draw.
Speaking at the three-day event, Femi Adesina, Proposition & Customer Insight-Marketing & Strategy (Youth Segment) at MTN Nigeria, described the program as a comprehensive activation designed to empower and entertain young people, with a specific focus on those in tertiary institutions. He noted that the event, which is the second edition of the Campus Invasion, also served as a valuable platform for students with businesses to showcase their ventures and gain patronage.
Adesina reiterated MTN’s commitment to youth development and acknowledged the role of its various business partners, including LG, Matter Guinness, Microsoft, and Cream, in the success of the initiative. He also announced that the MTN Pulse Campus Invasion, which was first held at the University of Abuja, would be moving next to the University of Benin and subsequently to other institutions across the North.
The impact of the program was echoed by a beneficiary, Ugoeke Williams, a 400-level Chemical Engineering student at FUTO. Williams, who is also a beneficiary of an MTN scholarship, praised the company for its focus on empowering students despite the nation’s infrastructural limitations. He specifically highlighted the MTN Skill Academy, an online platform where young people can learn powerful technical skills, as a testament to the company’s dedication to providing learning opportunities. Williams urged his fellow students to take full advantage of MTN’s initiatives to improve their technological and professional skills.
