Kebbi Gov Declares New Emir of Zuru’s Rise ‘Divinely Ordained’, Highlights People’s Choice
Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has described the emergence of the new Emir of Zuru, His Royal Highness Alhaji Sanusi Mikailu Sami, Gomo III, as an event both “divinely ordained” and a clear reflection of “the will of the people.”
The Governor made the declaration during a courtesy visit by the new Emir, accompanied by members of his council and prominent Zuru Emirate stakeholders, to express their gratitude for his recent appointment.
Governor Idris, who approved the selection of Alhaji Sanusi Mikailu Sami following the passing of the late Emir, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sami (Gomo II), stressed the integrity of the process. He noted that despite having no prior personal relationship with the new monarch, he swiftly endorsed the appointment because Sami was the choice of the people and secured the highest number of votes from the Zuru Emirate kingmakers.
“Leadership comes from God,” Governor Idris stated. “I never knew him personally, but I approved his appointment because he was the people’s choice. His emergence is ordained by God and endorsed by his people.”
The statement serves to solidify the legitimacy of the new Emir, who emerged from a contest among three candidates. The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the development of the Zuru Emirate, citing ongoing projects in infrastructure, health, and education, and vowed to sustain people-focused governance in the region.
