Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, was involved in a minor road accident on Sunday evening along the Daura–Katsina highway, but has been discharged from medical observation and is in good health. The incident occurred while the governor was on official duty in service to the people of the state.

The news of the accident, which initially caused concern among residents and well-wishers, was swiftly confirmed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed. In a statement released on Monday, Mohammed assured the public that Governor Radda sustained “no serious injuries” and remains “in high spirits.”

“We are pleased to confirm that Governor Radda is in good health and stable condition, with no serious injuries sustained,” the statement read. As a precautionary measure, the Governor was briefly placed under routine medical evaluation at a facility but has since resumed normal activities.

Governor Radda himself took to a live video address from his residence on Sunday, shortly after the incident, to personally assure the public of his well-being. Speaking in Hausa, he expressed profound gratitude for divine protection. “Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim. Dear brothers and sisters of Katsina State and beyond, we are deeply grateful for all your prayers and concern. By the will of Allah, we were tested with a car accident but Alhamdulillah, we came out safe and unharmed,” the Governor said.

While the exact nature and cause of the “minor road accident” were not detailed in the official statements, it is understood that it occurred while the Governor was returning from official engagements. The Daura-Katsina road is a frequently travelled route, particularly relevant in recent weeks due to various political and official activities in the region, including condolences following the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, whose hometown is Daura.

The Governor’s office also extended appreciation to the people of Katsina State and Nigerians at large for their prayers and concern following the incident. Governor Radda is expected to continue with his scheduled engagements, reaffirming his commitment to delivering on his mandate for the state.
