The Kano State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its fight against organized crime, announcing the arrest of two notorious armed robbery suspects and the interception of illicit drugs and local intoxicants valued at N42,950,000.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed that the command’s operatives successfully apprehended the robbery suspects, Nura Sani (20) and Ibrahim Lawan (35), in connection with a daring robbery at Tokarawa Quarters on September 14, 2025. During the operation, the suspects allegedly stormed a residence with dangerous weapons and made away with a Mercedes Benz GLK valued at N26.5 million, along with phones and other personal valuables.
In related operations targeting drug trafficking, the police recovered a large consignment of psychoactive substances. Operatives in Jalli Village, Dawakin Tofa LGA, seized 540 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules with an estimated street value of N40.5 million. Furthermore, a surveillance team intercepted two other suspects, Alhaji Isyaku Babayo and Mohd Ahmed, at the Dangauro Trailer Park, where they were found in possession of seven bags containing 2,450 bottles of the locally-made liquid intoxicant known as “Akuskura,” valued at N2.45 million.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed that all the arrested suspects and the recovered illicit substances—including over N120 million worth of other drugs intercepted in separate raids—have been transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Command, for detailed investigation and prosecution.
CP Bakori commended the professionalism of the officers involved and assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest all remaining fleeing suspects to recover all stolen items and rid the state of criminal elements. He urged residents to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information.
