Governor Soludo Sworn In for Second Term; Says 62 Criminal Camps Destroyed and Monday Sit-at-Home is Dead
Professor Chukwuma Soludo has officially begun his second four-year journey as the Governor of Anambra State. At exactly 11:05 am on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the Governor took the oath of office, promising to turn the state into a “livable and prosperous megacity.”
The highlight of the Governor’s speech was his update on security. Soludo told the cheering crowd that the dark days of fear are fading away. “Ndi Anambra say that ours is now one of the safest states in Nigeria,” he declared. He explained that his “Oso Soludo” (Soludo’s Race) security strategy has successfully cleared out 62 hidden camps used by gunmen and restored order to eight local government areas that were previously too dangerous to enter.
One of the biggest victories mentioned was the end of the Monday sit-at-home order, which had hurt the state’s economy for years. Today, the Governor noted, “our schools, markets, and businesses are back to work.” He also celebrated the “mass return” of thousands of Igbos who came home for Christmas last December without fear, showing that people now trust the security in the state.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, who spoke at the event, praised Soludo as a “man of ideas” and a “restless thinker.” He promised that the Federal Government would continue to partner with Anambra to build a better future. As the ceremony ended, Governor Soludo called on all citizens to join him in his “crusade” for an ethical rebirth, urging the youth to choose hard work and integrity over a life of crime.
