Gombe Police Command to Commence Full Enforcement of Tinted Glass Permits Starting October 2, Citing Security Concerns

The Gombe State Police Command has announced its readiness to commence the full enforcement of the federal motor vehicle tinted glass permit regulations, effective from Thursday, October 2, 2025.

The command issued the directive on Sunday, urging all motorists in the state to ensure immediate compliance to avoid running afoul of the law. The notice was conveyed in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi.

DSP Abdullahi explained that the move is strictly in line with existing traffic and security regulations, emphasizing the critical security dimension to the policy. “Tinted glasses without proper authorisation pose a security concern as criminal elements could exploit them to conceal illegal activities,” he stated.

The commencement of the enforcement in Gombe State follows the nationwide grace period extension approved by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, which set the new national deadline for October 2, 2025. This extension was granted to allow for the meticulous scrutiny of the surge in applications received through the official digital portal.

The Gombe Command has therefore directed its officers to strictly enforce the law once the deadline takes effect.

Appealing for cooperation from the general public, DSP Abdullahi assured residents that the exercise would be carried out professionally and with respect for the rights of law-abiding citizens. “The Command appeals for cooperation from the general public as this is aimed at enhancing safety and security for everyone in the state,” he concluded, urging motorists who have yet to obtain their permits to do so immediately.
