The Nigerian Army and the nation’s political landscape have lost a veteran figure with the announcement of the death of retired Colonel Emmanuel Ola Arogundade, who passed away at the age of 80.

A statement released on Monday, September 29, 2025, on behalf of the family by David Seyi Arogundade, confirmed that the former military administrator and High Chief died in the early hours of Friday, September 19, 2025.

Colonel Arogundade, who was also known by his chieftaincy title, was a prominent figure who served meritoriously in the Nigerian Army, eventually rising to the rank of Colonel before his retirement. His distinguished service also included a stint as a Military Administrator, though the specific state and period were not immediately disclosed.

The family’s announcement expressed deep sorrow, describing the deceased as a man of great influence. “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother Colonel Emmanuel Ola Arogundade (rtd) whose kindness, love, and impact touched many lives,” the statement read.

While the family has requested prayers during their period of mourning, they indicated that further announcements regarding funeral arrangements and rites of passage will be made public in due course. Colonel Arogundade’s passing marks the end of an era for a dedicated military officer and public servant.
