Federal Government Releases Shortlist for Civil Service Recruitment

FG Shortlists Candidates for Federal Civil Service Recruitment

Abuja, Nigeria August 7, 2025

The Federal Government has officially shortlisted candidates for the ongoing recruitment into the Federal Civil Service, following the conclusion of the application process earlier this year.

The recruitment, announced in January 2025 by the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), opened over 70 vacancies across various ministries, departments, and agencies. Roles advertised included Administrative Officer, Programme Analyst, Procurement Officer, Senior Computer Engineer, Dentist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Education Officer, and Foreign Affairs Officer, among others.

Applications were submitted via the official FCSC recruitment portal, which some applicants reported experiencing difficulty accessing during the registration period. The original deadline of March 10 was later extended to March 17 to accommodate more candidates.

In response to growing speculation that the process had stalled, Taiwo Hassan, Head of Press and Public Relations at the FCSC, clarified in an interview that the recruitment process had been progressing steadily.

“We have not abandoned the exercise. Candidates have been shortlisted and notified via email, including details about their preferred locations for the upcoming Computer-Based Test (CBT),” Hassan said.

Although specific figures were not disclosed, reports indicate that the recruitment drive aims to fill approximately 2,130 positions within the civil service.

The FCSC confirmed that only applicants who completed their submissions during the open window and met the requirements were shortlisted for the next stage of the process.
