Ekiti State Government Approves ₦12bn for Road and Housing Projects

The Ekiti State Government has approved over ₦12 billion for the execution of critical road and housing projects aimed at stimulating economic activities, enhancing security, and boosting the state’s agricultural sector. The approvals were among the key decisions reached during the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, confirmed the development in a statement released in Ado-Ekiti. He detailed the specific projects that received the green light, highlighting the administration’s commitment to delivering on its infrastructure agenda.

The largest of the contracts, valued at ₦7.3 billion, was awarded for the rehabilitation of the Ikogosi–Ipole–Efon Alaaye Road. Olatunbosun stated that the project, scheduled for a 24-month completion, is designed to “ease the hardship of residents, boost socio-economic activities in the area, and enhance the security of lives and property.”

In addition to the road project, the council approved a ₦3.87 billion contract for the construction of aviation staff quarters at the Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport. The facility, which will be constructed by Messrs CCECC Nigeria Limited, will comprise 40 residential units and is expected to be completed within a short period of four months. According to the Special Adviser, the staff quarters are strategically located to optimize operational efficiency and enhance airport security.

Furthermore, the State Executive Council approved an additional ₦638.38 million for the procurement of furniture and equipment for newly constructed dormitories. The dormitories are part of the “Bring Back Our Youths to Agriculture” programme, and the approval will make the new residences fully habitable for the participants of the agricultural scheme.
