Education First: Keystone Bank Renovates Akwa Ibom School, Improves Learning Environment

In a major boost to education in Akwa Ibom State, Keystone Bank Limited has officially handed over a fully renovated and equipped block of classrooms to the Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Four Towns, Uyo. The project, which is part of the bank’s Educational Support Initiative (ESI), has been hailed by state officials and the school community as a timely intervention that will significantly enhance the learning experience for students.

The handover ceremony, which took place at the school premises, was attended by key stakeholders, including Keystone Bank’s Directorate Head for the South, Dr. Eucharia Ken-Agbiriogu, and the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Secondary Education Board, Dr. Ekaette Ebong Okon. During the event, Dr. Ken-Agbiriogu emphasized the bank’s unwavering commitment to education as a foundational pillar for national development. “At Keystone Bank, we believe that investing in education is one of the most powerful ways to contribute to the progress of our nation,” she stated. “This renovated school block represents what is achievable when the private and public sectors work together towards a shared vision.”

The project, which also included the refurbishment of the science laboratory, transformed a building that was in a state of severe disrepair. The school’s principal, Ime Ekpo, expressed his gratitude to the bank for its intervention. “When I resumed at this school, the blocks that have now been renovated were the most dilapidated buildings in our compound,” Ekpo said. “Today, through the benevolence of Keystone Bank under its corporate social responsibility programme, that challenge has been addressed.” He urged other corporations to emulate the bank’s gesture and partner with the government to improve educational infrastructure.

The Akwa Ibom State government, through Dr. Okon, commended Keystone Bank for complementing its efforts to provide a conducive learning environment for students across the state. He noted that such collaborations significantly advance the state’s ARISE Agenda, which prioritizes education and youth empowerment.

The initiative is part of a series of educational projects by Keystone Bank across Nigeria, reinforcing its commitment to its corporate social responsibility pillars. The bank has a long history of supporting educational institutions through the construction and stocking of libraries, scholarships, and the provision of ICT centres. This latest project in Akwa Ibom is seen as another step in the bank’s mission to shape the minds of the next generation and contribute to a brighter future for the nation.
