Edo State to Train 65 NGOs in Capacity-Building Programme
In a move to strengthen grassroots development and promote accountability in civic engagements, the Edo State Government has announced that 65 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating within the state will undergo a structured capacity-building training program.
The initiative, organized in collaboration with development partners and civil society stakeholders, aims to enhance the operational effectiveness, governance, and impact of NGOs working in sectors such as health, education, human rights, and community development.
According to the Commissioner for Social Development and Gender Issues, Mrs. Christabel Omoh, the training will cover key areas including project management, financial accountability, monitoring and evaluation, resource mobilization, and advocacy strategies.
“This training is designed to equip NGOs with the tools and knowledge they need to operate effectively and transparently,” she stated. “We recognize the important role NGOs play in supporting government policies and reaching vulnerable communities.”
Participants will also receive guidance on compliance with regulatory standards and engagement frameworks with both local and international partners.
The program is expected to create a more coordinated development ecosystem in Edo State by fostering collaboration between NGOs and government institutions, while also encouraging innovation and improved service delivery at the community level.
Beneficiary organizations have expressed optimism about the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that will improve their organizational capacity and long-term sustainability.
