Edo State Initiates Property Owner Profiling in New City Development Area
The Edo State Government has commenced a comprehensive profiling exercise for property owners in the New City Development Area, formerly known as Coral City. This initiative, led by Governor Monday Okpebholo, aims to resolve longstanding land disputes and facilitate the issuance of Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) to legitimate property owners.
According to Dr. Abdulwasiu Oyakhire, Secretary to the Edo State Committee on Land Dispute Resolution, the profiling exercise will begin on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, and run through Friday, June 13, 2025. Property owners in Lot-A and Lot-B are required to present their land documents, such as survey plans or accurate property coordinates, for verification. Government-assigned surveyors will be available on-site to assist those without formal documentation.
This initiative follows a recent peace-building meeting convened by Governor Okpebholo with leaders from the Oke-Oroma, Obagie, and Amagba communities. During the meeting, the governor emphasized the importance of submitting land documents for verification, profiling, and eventual regularization toward the issuance of C-of-Os.
The state government urges all affected property owners to cooperate fully to ensure a smooth and successful profiling process. Subsequent phases of the exercise will cover other sections of the New City Development Area.
