“Dr. Travis Kevin” Exposed! 24-Year-Old Caught at Lagos Airport After Using Fake US Doctor Persona to Scam Victims of ₦48.5m

A 24-year-old man’s high-stakes “love game” has come to a crashing halt at the Lagos airport. Precious Onudhona, an alleged romance scammer who specialized in playing the part of a dashing American doctor, was intercepted by the Airport Police Command just moments before he could escape to Delta State.

Operating under the alias “Travis Kevin,” Onudhona reportedly spent years building a digital fantasy world on Facebook and Instagram. To his victims, he was a dedicated white American medical professional serving in the field. To the police, he was a calculated fraudster who had perfected the art of “emotional engineering.”

The suspect didn’t just stop at a fake name; he allegedly created an entire counterfeit banking website that showed massive (but fake) dollar balances to prove his financial status. Once his victims were hooked, he would spin a “war story,” claiming he had been injured on duty and desperately needed cash for medical bills and food.

The strategy was incredibly lucrative. Preliminary investigations by the Anti-Fraud Unit revealed that Onudhona successfully siphoned approximately ₦48.5 million about $35,000 from his targets, insisting that all payments be made via cryptocurrency to cover his tracks.

“The suspect was arrested following actionable intelligence as he attempted to board a flight to Asaba on Monday,” confirmed ASP Mohammed Adeola, the Command’s spokesperson. “Our investigation shows he joined a syndicate in 2023 that specifically targets people through deceptive narratives and false identities.”

The Airport Police Commissioner, CP Ogunbode Olufunke, has emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for such crimes, noting that the aviation corridor will not be a “safe passage” for fraudsters. While “Dr. Travis Kevin” is now behind bars, the hunt is on for the rest of his syndicate members who helped build the digital house of cards.
