Days of Empty Promises and Abandoned Projects Are Over, Declares President Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has strongly declared an end to the era of unfulfilled promises and abandoned projects across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and other parts of Nigeria, asserting that his administration is focused on delivering tangible results to its citizens. The President made this emphatic statement on Friday, July 4, 2025, during the inauguration of the newly rehabilitated Aguma Palace, Radio Nigeria, New Market Road, and other connecting roads in Gwagwalada, FCT.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu underscored his administration’s commitment to bridging the gap between promises and performance. “The days of empty promises and abandoned projects in the Federal Capital Territory and other parts of the country are over,” he stated, adding that his government was “not just rehabilitating roads but rehabilitating trust.”

The Gwagwalada road project, which marks the 17th infrastructure initiative inaugurated by President Tinubu to commemorate his second year in office, exemplifies the administration’s new approach. He highlighted that this particular project was nominated by the people of Gwagwalada themselves, showcasing a “democracy that listens, one that responds, and one that delivers.”

President Tinubu acknowledged the long-standing frustration of communities residing beyond city centers, who had witnessed development from afar, their hopes often deferred by excuses and shifting priorities. “We are here to rewrite that history,” he affirmed, reiterating his pledge that “no community under his administration was too far to be seen and no voice too faint to be heard.”

He attributed the unfolding transformation across the FCT to deliberate reforms and the bold, reform-oriented policies of his administration. President Tinubu also lauded the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his “refusal to accept mediocrity” and for spearheading the rapid execution of projects in the capital.

The President reiterated his government’s unwavering commitment to undertaking projects that directly enhance the lives of the people. This includes a focus on creating an enabling environment for businesses to flourish, families to thrive, and communities to prosper. “We are determined to ensure that development is not a privilege reserved for the few, but a right enjoyed by all,” he concluded, signaling a new chapter of accountable governance and sustained progress under his “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
